Moving through the middle of A New Hope, all the players are now on the Death Star. Obi-Wan and Luke have hired Han Solo and Chewbacca to escape Luke’s home planet and head to Alderaan with C3PO and R2D2. The Death Star’s tractor beam has pulled the Millennium Falcon on board but our heroes have evaded capture through hiding and then disguising themselves as Storm Troopers.
They are now in the control room while Obi-Wan heads out alone to kill the tractor beam. R2D2 is plugged into the computer and has found Princess Leia’s location in the detention center – awaiting execution. Luke springs to action to go rescue her, but Han is not impressed and swivels his chair to turn his back as confirmation.
“Better her, then me.” Han explains. Luke takes a moment to think and then leans over toward Han.
“She’s rich.” He calmly speaks. Chewy lets out a moan that can only be a warning to Han, who is now noticeably interested.
“How rich?” Han queries.
Luke stumbles to reply, “…more than you can imagine.”
Han swirls around with a ready demand, “I can imagine a lot.”
Not very promising for our heroes? Luke is reaching by suggesting payoffs he has absolutely no idea are possible. Han is very unlikely at this point to risk much. He seems greedy and definitely self-centered. He wants to know what’s in it for him. These two not only will save Leia, but also rescue the Galaxy from The Empire. They will also become best friends.
Not all adventures and accomplishments start with pure intentions. Don’t count yourself out if you were taking the short cut and ended up in a tight spot. The truth of who you are is in The Light. Come back to doing the right thing and stick with it. You can still save the universe or rescue a friend or help a stranger too.
