In A New Hope, the Millennium Falcon has been captured, but Han, Chewy, Luke, Obi-Wan and the two droids have been able to stow away without being caught. They have successfully entered the control room as the plan to disengage the tractor beam holding them appears to be working . . . For the moment. Stealth has been their ally but Han isn’t very good at keeping a low profile. Tensions are high and once the control room door swishes closed, Luke turns on Han:
“Between his howling and your blasting everything in sight, it’s a wonder the whole station doesn’t know we’re here.”
Han fires back, “Bring ‘em on. I’d prefer a straight fight to all this sneaking around.”
Han is frustrated. A bit more accustomed to talking his way out of a bad situation, he likes being the one in control. Following Obi-Wan’s direction of cunning and patience is definitely not Han’s comfort zone. He does not want to take on the Empire. He just wants to get paid.
Luke, on the other hand, is all-in with learning the ways of the Force. Although he has the impatience of youth, he is intent on becoming the Jedi that Obi-Wan is promising.
Obi-Wan is the cool head of experience and leadership they all need for the trouble they’re in.
So how would you act in their situation? Are you with Han and prefer the commando frontal attack? Or are you more the covert operative? Are you the level thinker when everyone else is going berserk? or Which would you rather be?
