Finn, Han and Chewy have reunited with Rey. The final scenes of The Force Awakens are winding up. Han and Chewy are in the midst of setting explosives that will destroy the oscillator for good. From the shadows Han sees his son. Although Kylo Ren senses a presence, he continues his trek to find the intruders that are endangering the Third Order’s planet demolition. Han cannot turn away, he must try to reach his son. He comes out of hiding and calls to his son, stopping him in his trek.
“Take off that mask.” Han confidently decrees. “You don’t need it.”
“What do you think you’ll see if I do.” The son replies.
“The face of my son.” That a father always searches to see.
“Your son is gone. He was weak and foolish, like his father. So I destroyed him.” Kylo Ren speaks like a rebellious child.
“That’s what Snoke wants you to believe, but it’s not true. My son is alive.” The always hopeful father speaks.
“No, Supreme Leader is wise.”
“Snoke is using you for your power. When he gets what he wants, he’ll crush you.” Han pauses to add. “You know it’s true.” The truth solidifies around them. Han is getting through to Ben, the son that was lost but still sought by his father.
“It’s too late.” Ben resigns.
Addiction, depression, loneliness – we all think it is too late for us when we fall into dark times. There’s a father though that is seeking the true self that you are. When you can’t see it; He can see you, all that you are and can be. It may not be your biological father, but He is there – in church, in your family, in your friends, in your neighbors, in the relationships that seem difficult at times. Look for the Light. Someone knows that is Who You Are. When you seek the Light, you cannot disappoint and it is never too late.
